How to Add Photos and Memories to FamilySearch
Adding Memories to FamilySearch
FamilySearch lets you upload photos, stories, and documents to attach to your ancestors. Here's how:
Step 1: Navigate to Memories
Click "Memories" in the top menu bar. You'll see options for Photos, Stories, Documents, and Audio.
Step 2: Upload Your File
Click "Add" or the + button, then choose the type of memory you're adding. Select the file from your computer.
Step 3: Add Details
Give your memory a title and description. Add the date if you know it.
Step 4: Tag People
This is the important part! Click "Tag" to connect the memory to people in your family tree:
- For photos, click on faces to tag individuals
- Search for the person by name
- The memory will appear on their profile
Tips
- Scan old photos at 300 DPI or higher for best quality
- Add context in the description - who, what, when, where
- Tag everyone who appears in a photo
